Army bomb disposal team set up 100m cordon in Yorkshire after suspicious items found

The army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has set up a cordon this morning in Yorkshire after a number of suspicious items were found.

Around 7.10am on Wednesday May 8, police executing a warrant on Brierley Road, Grimethorpe found a number of suspicious items.

The army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has been called and a 100m cordon is in place as a precaution while emergency services work together at the scene, South Yorkshire Police said.

A spokesperson for the force said: “There are some road closures and public transport may also be disrupted.

"We would advise members of the public to avoid the area.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and their cooperation. We will update you again as soon as we have more information.”
