Colleges win £80m boost for building projects
The funding announced today will help support the creation of an engineering centre at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, a £3.6m science, technology, engineering and maths centre at Barnsley College and a £9m project at Askham Bryan College, near York, which includes a dairy unit and a replacement wildlife and conservation centre.
The Skills Funding Agency is providing £2.8m to support building work as part of Bradford College’s £52m new campus development. Funding is also being given to allow Leeds City College to create £6.3m facilities for apprenticeships, employability and enterprise and to support an £11.8m campus for Leeds College of Building.

Hide AdThe Skills Funding Agency is investing £12.5m in the region, which will be more than matched with £73.4m investment from colleges.
The funding is the third phase of the Enhanced Renewal Grant which has seen £330m spent across England since May 2010, supporting more than £1bn of investment in college buildings.
Skills Minister Matthew Hancock said: “Investing in our college campuses will provide an environment where students can enjoy learning and use modern resources that will equip them with work-ready skills.”
