A colour-coded guide to the Yorkshire week
Taupe Tuesday
Most Tuesdays between now and mid-April are like to have a dullish, beige feel to them before the weather warms up and the sun begins to shine down on the Broad Acres again. But we can at least console ourselves that it’s always a lot more taupe in Manchester.
White Wednesday
The perfect foil to Black Friday: act like a true Tyke and spend nowt. Even on yourself.

Scarlet Saturday
The colour Scarlet has always been associated with immorality, which perhaps explains the behaviour of many young people in city centres across Yorkshire most Saturday evenings. It’s also a colour associated with sacrifice, so why not stay in and renounce sinful ways? Thought not.
Sage Sunday
A day for doing all the domestic jobs that have accrued throughout the week, many of which require the clear head of someone wise enough not to have over-indulged on Scarlet Saturday. That’ll be you then. No?
