Video: Huws impact hailed by Huddersfield Town manager Powell
The Welshman fired in a long-range strike which deflected in off Jack Hobbs in the 85th minute to extend Town’s unbeaten run to three games and move them up to 13th spot in the Championship - and cancel out Ryan Mendes’ first-half opener.
Huws, who joined on a season-long loan on August 27 from Wigan Athletic, is already Town’s top-scorer and Powell believes there is even more to come from the midfielder, who suffered a serious ankle injury at the start of the calendar year.
Powell said: “What an impact he has made for us.

“He’s still working his way to fitness. But when you are a new player joining a new club, whether it is on loan or permanently, you want to make your mark early.
“So I think he’s done that!”
While Huws took many plaudits again following his weekend brace in the 4-1 win over Bolton, Powell says that a miraculous goalline block from ex-Barnsley defender Martin Cranie just before Huws’s leveller was also a major moment - calling it a turning point in the match last night.
Cranie blocked Chris O’Grady’s follow-up after sub Chris Burke’s shot hit the post, with Town going onto restore parity at the other end through Huws.

“They scored out of the blue with their only shot of the first half. But what we needed was not to panic.
“I think over the course of the ninety minutes, the draw was the least we deserved. We kept probing and trying to do the right things.
“The big turning point was when they hit the post and Martin Cranie put his body on the line and stopped it and we went up the other end and scored.
“There was a lot to like about the game, with Nahki Wells coming on and Joe Lolley making an impact.”
