Southend United 0-0 York City
YORK City had to settle for a point in a dour 0-0 draw at Southend United’s Roots Hall.
York went closest in the first half when Ashley Chambers scuffed a 12-yard shot in to the gloves of Southend goalkeeper Paul Smith.
Jason Walker also headed a decent opportunity straight at Smith nine minutes after half time and the same player was denied by a decent Smith double save two minutes later.
Southend twice went close to bagging a winner towards the end of the game’s conclusion - Chris Baker heading over from six yards and Kevan Hurst failing to direct a half-volley goalwards.
