'I can't wait to get going': Wakefield Trinity new boy Kevin Proctor hungry for Super League challenge

Wakefield Trinity have confirmed the signing of former New Zealand back-rower Kevin Proctor on a one-year deal.

The 33-year-old – an NRL Grand Final winner with Melbourne Storm – was a free agent following his sacking by Gold Coast Titans earlier this year for vaping in the toilets during a game and posting a video of the incident on social media.

Proctor will now aim to resurrect his career in Super League with Wakefield.

“I just can’t wait to get over and get going,” said Proctor, who won 22 caps for the Kiwis.

“The challenge is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m hoping my experience will complement the squad and the young fellas that are a part of it.

“I’m really hungry to succeed and can’t wait for the journey to start.”

New Trinity head coach Mark Applegarth is in the process of reshaping the squad following the loss of several long-serving players, including Jacob Miller and David Fifita.

“He’s a player that’s done it all in Australia and somebody I’m looking forward to working with. He will definitely drive the standards of the group up in training and games as he’s a real competitor.

“After chatting with Kevin on numerous occasions, it’s clear to see he’s coming over with plenty of ambition left to compete at the highest level. I can’t wait for him to get started.”
