ALMOST one in 10 of the worst primary schools in the country for truancy are found in Yorkshire, the new league tables reveal.
The region has 19 schools in a list of 200 primaries with the highest rates of pupils skipping lessons.
Stirling Primary School in Doncaster has the worst record in the region with 5.4 per cent of all half-days being missed compared with a national average of 0.5 per cent. It is ranked 10th worst in the country overall.

Whetley Primary School in Bradford, Wakefield Sandal Magna Junior and Infants School, Prince Edward Primary and Byron Wood Primary schools in Sheffield also feature in the bottom 50 across England for their truancy rates.
Bradford has the most schools on the list in Yorkshire with six primaries in the worst 200 followed by Sheffield and Kirklees which have three schools each.
However, the region's performance is an improvement on last year when 23 Yorkshire primary schools were named among the nation's worst.
Earlier this year figures from the Department of Children Schools and Families revealed Yorkshire's secondary schools had the worst attendance records in the country with more than a million half-days missed in less than a year.
