It was FA Cup round two weekend for those teams outside of the top two divisions but there were also some crunch games also in the Premier League and Championship.
A second-half penalty from Ricardo Fuller denied
Hull City another away win in the Premier League after Marlon King had put the Tigers ahead.
The burly stri
ker fired in a fine finish at the end of the first half to raise hopes of a another three points for Phil Brown's men but Fuller kept his cool to slot home the equaliser after goalkeeper Boaz Myhill had up-ended the Jamaican striker.
Sheffield Wednesday secured victory from one of the most dramatic games of the day in the Championship as they battled back from a goal down to win 3-2 at Hillsborough.
Marcus Tudgay was the hero as he fired in the all-important 72nd minute goal which gave the Owls an impressive win over the Canaries.
Elsewhere in the Championship a late penalty from James Beattie rescued a point for
Sheffield United as they came back from a goal down to draw 1-1. Beattie's vital goal coming in the final minute at Portman Road.
Struggling
Doncaster also secured a 1-1 draw away from home as Steve Brooker jumped off the bench to level matters at Watford but
Barnsley were 1-0 losers at Nottingham Forest.
Bradford City were the only Yorkshire side to play in the FA Cup 2nd round but they failed to take their place in the 3rd round draw after losing at home to Leyton Orient 2-1.
There were no Yorkshire teams in action in League One or League Two but
York City managed a 1-1 draw against Salisbury.
