TRANSFER-LISTED Barnsley defender Paul Reid is a summer target for his former club Carlisle United.
Reid, 26, has been told that he can leave Oakwell by manager Simon Davey and briefly returned to Carlisle on loan at the end of last season.

Carlisle manager John Ward said: "Paul is a player we are following but, while he is contracted to Barnsley, they hold the important cards. If he was to be released, to their mutual agreement, we will look at it.

"He cares very much about this city and about the football club," added Ward.

"I liked him and he liked what he saw here. It's up to Barnsley what happens now."
