BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey admits that it is 'extremely flattering' to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
Davey is reportedly on a list of candidates to replace United's assistant manager Carlos Queiroz, who is set to quit to take over as manager of Portugal.

Welshman Davey shot to national attention last season when Barnsley defeated both Liverpool and Chelsea to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

With Queiroz likely to depart this week, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is tipped to move for one of the game's bright young coaching talents.

Other possibilities include Swansea's Roberto Martinez, Blackpool's Simon Grayson and former striker Brian McClair, now the director of the Old Trafford youth academy.

Davey said: "To be linked with a club like that is fantastic and extremely flattering – we must be doing something right here – but there has been no contact and it is just speculation.

"Whether there is anything in it, I don't know, but I do know that I have already got a great job to do at Barnsley, I am happy, and that's all I am focused on."
