SIMON DAVEY has called on his Barnsley players to "finish the job" after another season of progress at Oakwell.
The Tykes are tonight looking to claim a trio of back-to-back wins for the first time in almost a year when Hull City make the short trip to south Yorkshire.
Barnsley have already earned more points this time around than the 50 that saw Davey's me
n finish 20th in the Championship last season and the Oakwell chief said: "We have progressed a lot from last season, which is pleasing.
"We have already got more points than the amount we managed last time and have also got through to an FA Cup semi-final and the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
"The important thing now is to finish the job. One more win will make us safe but I want us to win all four of our remaining games. If we do that, we can look back on a good season.
"I have never known a division like this season's Championship. If you were a betting man, you certainly would not bet on any games in it.
"You only have to look at our position, we are not safe yet but are only 20 points behind the leaders. Such a close gap is usually unheard of at this stage of the season."
Tonight's game will be shown live by Sky and Barnsley are hoping to avenge a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at the KC Stadium in October.
Davey said: "Hull have done very well. They have spent a lot of money but that does not always guarantee success. So, they deserve great credit."
Brian Howard will again be missing despite recovering from the injury that ruled him out of the last two games, the midfielder having yesterday reported for training suffering from sickness and diarrhoea.
Davey will, however, welcome back Martin Devaney and Daniel Nardiello after injury as Barnsley chase a third consecutive win for the first time since defeating Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City in April last year.
Last six games: Barnsley LLLLWW, Hull City LWWWWD.
Referee: S Attwell (Warwickshire).
Last time: Barnsley 3 Hull City 0; February 20, 2007; Championship.
