1. Actively contribute to community forums and message boards and make sure that you include a link to your site on every post.
2. Host an industry-relevant blog and post often – it will score you hits in Google and build your online profile.
3. Interact with the blogging community and get them on your side.
They want to link to great content and are a great way of driving visitors to your site.
4. A website redesign will give your site a facelift, make it look and navigate better and gives you an excuse to invite people to the site to see the changes.
5. Newsletters – Develop a group of people who will read and respond to your offers, deals and promotions by regularly publishing an "e-zine".
Offering tips and suggestions will keep your readers interested and ensure a steady stream of visitors to your site.
6. Remember that valid and relevant content in a properly constructed web page is your best means of getting "up the rankings" of search engines.
7. Don't underestimate the power of a domain name which includes keywords for the search terms you want to be highly ranked for.
8. Never pay for Search Engine Optimisation – a well-designed and thought-out web-site will find its way up the rankings. There's no point focusing on the detail of SEO if your site was not built correctly in the first place
9. Reward users for referring others to your site either with kudos or more tangible benefits – loyalty points, voucher schemes etc.
10. If you are going to send emails to your users, ensure that they are targeted and relevant so that they don't end up as spam.
If you don't, mail providers' spam filters will be taught that your email is spam and none of your messages will get through.
