A classic way to experience Yorkshire

A collector of classic cars has turned her passion for speed into a business – by hiring out the vehicles.

Niki Garnett-White, who used to work for a wedding car-hire firm, has launched Classic Car Hire Yorkshire, where customers

can try out her British, European and American collection,

which includes a Corvette Stingray, a Triumph TR6, a Porsche 928 and an Alpha Romeo Spyder.

She said she had already had a lot of interest from motorists and expects her busiest period to be over the summer.

"Many of our bookings are from visitors to the area who want to tour the beautiful Yorkshire countryside in an equally beautiful car.

"Couples are also booking sports cars as wedding day transport for the groom and best man – there's no reason why they shouldn't arrive in style as well as the bride.

"We've also taken bookings from people who are considering buying a classic car of their own, but would like to try one out first.

"Hiring a classic car for the day is much more cost-effective than buying and maintaining one yourself," she said.

The firm can deliver cars to people's homes or hotels as well as offer advice on where to stay and where to visit in the region.

The price of hiring a vehicle for a day ranges from 175 for a Morris Minor convertible, to 360 for a Corvette, which includes insurance.

Mrs Garnett-White, who lives in Bolton, near Pocklington, added: "It gives me great pleasure to allow people the chance to fulfil the dream of driving their own classic sports car, even if it's just for a day."
