Airbus in talks over plants
plane maker Airbus said yesterday negotiations were continuing for the divestment of sites in France, Germany, and Britain.
The sites concerned are Filton, near Bristol, St-Nazaire Ville and Meaulte in France, Varel, Nordenham and Laupheim as well as the Augsburg site of EADS in Germany, it said in a statement.
A report said on Thursday that talks between Airbus and German aerospace company OHB on the sale of Airbus production plants in Germany had failed.
The Financial Times Deutschland said the talks ended because Airbus was unable to find an agreement that was industrially or financially acceptable.
Airbus wants to divest plants in Germany, France and Britain to cut costs and then buy parts from the plants for the A350MXB, so any delay of the sales could lead to delays in the production of the plane.
"In this context, Airbus' management gives priority to the timely development of A350 XWB and continues to take all necessary measures to support it," yesterday's statement said.
