ATH Resources to expand production
ATH Resources, one of Britain's largest coal producers, has won approval for its plan to mine a further 600,000 tonnes of coal at its Scotland site.
The Doncaster group said production at the Skares Road mine was expected to start later this year after approval by the local planning authority and the Scottish Govenrment.
Tom Allchurch, chief executive of ATH, said: "This planning approval ensures continuous production at Skares Road securing the employment of the 37 employees there and will extend the productive life of our Skares Road site to a total of 12 years."
