Business park boost for firms and jobs
BUSINESSES in North Yorkshire are to receive a boost with the construction of a new office development at Selby Business Park.
Work has already started on the 4.6m Abbey Court scheme, which will be built adjacent to the New Country Inns 60-bed hotel at the junction of the A1040 and the A63.
The 26,488 sq ft development – which will create 155 jobs – will include 15 self-contained office buildings ranging in size from 1,404 sq ft to 2,427 sq ft. The buildings will be available either leasehold or freehold.
It is hoped that the scheme will attract local firms which would otherwise relocate to Leeds or York when they have outgrown their existing premises.
The developer, Priority Sites, has appointed York House Construction to carry out the construction of the scheme, which was granted planning permission in December 2007.
Adam Richardson, development manager for Priority Sites, said: "Traditionally, businesses that have outgrown their existing premises in Selby have relocated elsewhere, such as Leeds or York.
"However, Abbey Court will ensure that employment is retained and created in the local area, which is essential for
the prosperity of the local economy."
He added: "Abbey Court is ideal for local companies wanting to expand and relocate from their current premises into modern accommodation with the benefit of superb transportation links.
"Abbey Court fronts the A63 Selby bypass which links to the M62 and the A19. This also provides companies from outside the area with a fantastic opportunity of relocating."
