Businesses urged to be in the running for the corporate challenge
THE organisers of Jane Tomlinson's Leeds 10k have once again joined forces with law firm Clarion Solicitors to give businesses across the region the opportunity to join the 2009 run.
Launched today, the Clarion Solicitors Corporate and Team Challenges take place within the main Leeds 10k run on Sunday June 21, and offer businesses which take part the chance to support their chosen charity.
Mike Tomlinson, whose wife Jane died in September 2007 following her long battle with cancer, hopes that up to 15,000 people will join this year's Leeds 10k and that the event will top the 750,000 raised last year.
Mr Tomlinson said: "One of the highlights of the Leeds 10k over the last two years has been the fantastic support we have received from the region's corporate community.
"Please join us on June 21 for what promises to be another fantastic major sporting event."
Jane Tomlinson set up the Leeds 10k as her fundraising legacy in 2007, with the aim of allowing participants to support the charity or good cause close to their own hearts.
Roger Hutton, partner at Clarion Solicitors in Leeds, said: "The money raised makes an enormous difference to very deserving charities and we feel that in difficult economic times it is increasingly important to help those in need."
By signing up to the Corporate Challenge package, which costs 500, businesses receive expert coaching for teams, event branded t-shirts for all entrants, complementary team photos, and the opportunity to attend a pre-race pasta and networking evening.
The event, which is supported by the Yorkshire Post as a media partner, is organised by Jane's Appeal, which raises money for children's and cancer charities.
