Carclo looks to “exciting” year

TECHNICAL plastics group Carclo said the coming year will be “transformational” for the company as its Conductive Inkjet Technology takes off.

The company, which is based in Ossett, West Yorkshire, reported a much stronger second half and said trading to date is in line with expectations.

The group said its Conductive Inkjet Technology’s touch screen project continues on track.

It added that it should be able to provide a fuller briefing on the project’s commercial launch in a trading statement in the first week of April.

The group said it has started volume shipments of InkJetFlex product for an “innovative medical product” boosting second half revenues at Conductive Inkjet Technology.

Carclo said its technical plastics division has seen some short term inventory corrections as some of its major customers respond to slowing markets.

February schedules were weaker than expected and this temporary slowdown to likely to continue into March.

As a result the contribution from technical plastics is expected to be similar to last year.

“At this stage we judge that this is a temporary inventory correction, and expect the division to return to growth next year based on new programmes and recent contract awards,” the company said in an interim management statement.

Carclo said its precision products division is still enjoying firm demand and will trade slightly ahead of expectations, compensating to some extent for the slower demand in technical plastics.

“Overall we are confident of delivering good growth for the year and are looking forward to an exciting and transformational year for the group in 2012/13,” the company said.

“The group’s financial position remains strong following the renewal of the bank facilities which are now in place until 2015.”
