Doing business in the great outdoors
Everyone knows Yorkshire is God's Own County.
An enterprising author hopes to take advantage of this fact by using the natural beauty of the region to "soothe, inspire and refresh" hard-working professionals so they can become better businesspeople.
Mark Reid, who has written 16 walking guides covering the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District, North York Moors and Lake District, is launching a new networking concept called 'Netwalking'.
The first event takes place in Upper Wharfedale on July 30 and begins with a pub breakfast followed by an invigorating walk across the beautiful Dales and finishing with lunch.
Mr Reid, who regularly appears on ITV Yorkshire's Calendar programme with weatherman Jon Mitchell, said Netwalking will
provide "uninterrupted talk time" amid inspiring scenery.
He said: "The natural landscape is a very powerful business tool. The open hills engender a sense of space and freedom that has a unique power to soothe, inspire and refresh. There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that the great outdoors can have positive effects on our psychological well-being.
"Hill-walking has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve self-esteem and boost self-confidence. It is a multi-sensory and stimulating experience that clears your mind and allows escapism from the stresses of everyday life."
