Fairtrade beverages now on Virgin flights
A YORKSHIRE businesswoman has brokered a deal with Virgin Atlantic to supply passengers with Fairtrade tea and coffee.
Virgin Atlantic passengers can now taste organic green and white teas from QI teas, coffee by specialist supplier FFI UK, and a range of organic and Fairtrade teas from Clipper.
Leeds-based SaltaSustainable worked with all three suppliers to put forward a competitive offering, which balanced Virgin Atlantic's commercial needs with the airline's commitment to support Fairtrade. Emma Harvey established SaltaSustainable, formerly known as Fair Trade First, in 2005 and through it offers corporate responsibility consultancy, which includes introducing business customers to a range of suppliers of sustainable goods and services.
Ms Harvey said: "I am absolutely delighted to have brokered this deal.
"It is great to see such a big name as Virgin Atlantic taking the issues of ethical supply seriously.
"We have enjoyed collaborating with the Virgin Atlantic team to find a solution that really worked for them, and one which fits in with their priorities to promote sustainable business practices."
