Firm gives its workers unlimited holidays
Silicon Valley software company WANdisco has introduced an unlimited holiday policy for its UK staff in Sheffield.
The Californian firm, headed by Yorkshireman David Richards, said its employees will be able to take as much paid vacation as they need “to stay the same productive, enthusiastic employees who made this company what it is today”.
Writing on his blog, Mr Richards added: “The internet has made it possible to work without even being in the office.
“The traditional Monday-Friday, 9-5 working day is a thing of the past. In this rapidly-changing working culture, we’ve been fortunate to have some of the most dedicated staff in the business. It’s time to give something back.”
He told the Yorkshire Post: “It is not a stunt but we trust and value our employees and value results much more that clocking-in and clocking-out.”
The company is best known for its Subversion system, aimed at organisations that develop commercial software or administrative packages.
Last month WANdisco appointed Nick Parker, former chief executive of Sheffield Wednesday, as its chief financial officer.
It employs around 30 people in Sheffield. Previous holiday allowance was 28 days, including public holidays.
Investment bank Panmure Gordon, law firm DLA Piper and accountants KPMG are advising the company on its initial public offering planned for the end of April or early May.
