HLW seals milestone McCombie merger

A LAW firm headed by a former Olympic athlete has today completed a merger which will enhance its service to small firms.

The Leeds office of HLW Commercial Lawyers has sealed another milestone in its expansion by merging with McCombie & Co.

McCombie & Co was founded in 1994 by Ian McCombie, who competed for Great Britain in the 20km race walk at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 and the Seoul Olympics in 1988.

The merged company – to be called HLW McCombie – will offer a commercial law service to the region's small and medium-sized businesses.

The 20-strong team, which includes four partners, will be jointly headed by insolvency specialist David Guest and Ian McCombie, who is an expert in commercial litigation.

HLW McCombie will complement the Sheffield office of HLW Commercial Lawyers which continues to trade under its original name. The merged firm will initially operate out of its two respective offices in Leeds city centre.

Mr McCombie said: "The merger will further enhance the level of delivery to our respective clients."
