Leading lawyers in launch of intellectual property firm

TWO of Yorkshire's best known intellectual property lawyers have launched their own firm.

Leeds-based Kempner Robinson will specialise in intellectual property work including patents, trade marks, copyright and design work.

The firm, which has been founded by Richard Kempner and Andy Robinson, already has several big name clients on its books including budget airline Jet2.com, supermarket firm Asda and the world's largest chemical company, BASF.

Mr Kempner, who was previously national head of law firm Addleshaw Goddard's intellectual property group, joins Mr Robinson, who has spent five years as a partner at Robinsons, the niche intellectual property firm.

The other partners at Kempner Robinson are Stuart Jackson, the former director of patent litigation at Addleshaw Goddard, and Jason Dainty, a partner in Robinsons.

Mr Robinson said: "The creation of Kempner Robinson is a great opportunity for us to grow a law firm dedicated to providing clients with a full range of services spanning all aspects of intellectual property law and commerce.

"Richard's reputation as one of the UK's leading intellectual property lawyers is outstanding and Kempner Robinson brings together some of the most experienced IP lawyers in the North and the UK.

"I am proud of what we have achieved at Robinsons, having worked on some of the most significant IP cases in recent years, and joining forces with Richard and Stuart will take us to a new level."

Mr Kempner added: "Companies and big brands are becoming increasingly conscious of costs but still demand the best advice.

"We believe there are huge revenue opportunities available to companies who fully exploit their intellectual property but very few businesses are capitalising on their intellectual assets."
