Leisure company buys its fourth holiday park

LEISURE firm Blue Sky Resorts has acquired its fourth holiday park – for an undisclosed sum.

The established 40-acre Spring Willows site, at Staxton, near Scarborough, has an indoor swimming pool, stands for 56 static caravans and 58 touring vans, as well as another 14 pitches for casual users.

Mark Alston, director at Wakefield-based Blue Sky, said: "We already had the contract to sell caravans on the site and knew it well, so we were delighted to step in when the opportunity came to acquire the holiday park.

"The park is attractively landscaped but we now plan to invest a significant amount to bring it up to the same five-star standard as our other sites, and to make it more ecologically-friendly."

Ian Clark, the park's new general manager, added: "Since the takeover, we have become one of only a handful of holiday parks to buy and install a purpose-built caravan for disabled people."

The two-bedroom disabled-access caravan has a ramp together with facilities including extra wide doorways, lower worktops and handrails.

Middlesbrough Council has already agreed to rent the caravan for an initial period of five years so it can provide holidays for disabled residents.

Following the acquisition, Blue Sky Resorts has created two new posts at the park.
