New finance chief for accountants

GRANT Thornton yesterday announced the appointment of Alan Rodgers as head of financial planning within the entrepreneur and private client department at the company's practice in Leeds.

He joins the firm having worked as a private banker with Credit Suisse and will be responsible for growing financial planning within the business.

He will advise private clients on wealth management, inheritance tax, investment and pension planning.

Rodgers comes to Grant Thornton with 15 years experience in the financial services industry having worked as a financial adviser in the East Midlands.

He said: "I am really excited at the opportunity to join such a leading firm like Grant Thornton and look forward to growing the financial planning element of the business."

Managing partner Jonathan Riley said: "We are delighted to welcome Alan to the growing team here at Grant Thornton. Alan brings experience, knowledge and fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the financial planning department."

Rodgers is a keen sports fan who supports Nottingham Forest and due to his new appointment, now follows the reigning rugby league World Club Champions, Leeds Rhinos.
