Straight joins scheme to fight climate change
straight, the waste and recycling products manufacturer, has celebrated a milestone after signing up to support an environmental protection project.
The Leeds-based company has ‘offset’ carbon emissions from its manufacturing processes by helping smallholding farmers in Africa to plant new trees.
Jonathan Straight, the chief executive of Straight, said: “As a forward-looking company, we’re keen to explore its potential while as a responsible manufacturer working in an environmentally-aware industry, it is particularly important for us to make a contribution to tackling climate change.”
He has been working with Yorkshire-based charity United Bank of Carbon for the last year, which has helped him mitigate against the effects of 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
The charity, founded by Bettys & Taylors, matches businesses with verified rainforest projects from around the globe.
