A well-known city centre Mexican restaurant has been bought by a new owner.

Fiesta Latina in Clifford Street, York, has been acquired by York Restaurant, which is owned and run by French businessman Fabrice Villoutreix.

During the acquisition, law firm Hethertons acted on behalf of York Restaurant to ensure that the requirements of the business were met during the sale and the acquisition of the restaurant went ahead smoothly.

Simon Crack, head of Hethertons Business Support Unit, said: “Fiesta Latina is a very popular restaurant and represents an excellent opportunity for York Restaurant.

“We were glad that we were able to offer the advice and services that Fabrice and his team required to complete the transaction on this wonderful city centre restaurant.

“York is an excellent place to do business and in recent months we have helped a number of entrepreneurs realise their dreams of moving to this historic city.”

El Gringos took over the restaurant and renamed it Fiesta Latina in 2012 after the previous restaurant, Fiesta Mehicana, closed at the beginning of that year.

El Gringos was started by Chris Itburrun when he opened his first tex mex restaurant in Malton in 1998. Joe Ferraioli, former manager of Fiesta Mehicana, joined the group.

Hethertons, which has offices in York and Boroughbridge, also advised on the recent sale of a dancing clothes outlet in Harrogate, Jayne Mason, owner of Fancy Dance, originally had two shops in Yorkshire, but in order to grow her business she decided to sell her store in Harrogate to enable her operations in York to move to larger premises.
