THREE hundred jobs have been saved after administrators sold five out of of six car dealerships belonging to Richard Alexander.
Graham Newton and Toby Underwood, business restructuring partners at BDO Stoy Hayward, were appointed joint administrative receivers of Richard Alexander last Friday.

Richard Alexander was a privately-owned family run car dealership, focusing on V
olkswagen, Audi and SEAT cars.

It also specialised in new cars, fleet cars and used vehicles sales and had a £140m annual turnover. It traded from six sites in the North of England.

Mr Newton said yesterday: "I am delighted to be able to confirm that we have sold five of the six dealerships to Sytner Group, and in the process, have saved 300 jobs. The sites include three VW dealerships in Leeds, Huddersfield and Harrogate and the Audi and SEAT sites in Huddersfield.

"However, the remaining site - VW Otley/Menston - has been closed and regrettably the staff have been made redundant."

Gerard Nieuwenhuys, the Sytner Group managing director, said: "We are delighted to acquire these businesses within such a short space of time. I would like to reassure all customers that the businesses are now in a sound financial position and we look forward to the opportunity of serving their needs for many years to come."
