New faces welcomed to HSBC board

HSBC moved to strengthen its board yesterday with the appointment of former Bank of England deputy governor Rachel Lomax and ex-Goldman Sachs director John Thornton.

They will join as non-executive directors on December 1, with Mr Thornton due to become chairman of HSBC North America.
