A BUILDING firm has won seven contracts worth £26m in just three months.

Redworth Construction, based in Malton, is working on projects in Penrith, Cambridge, Barnsley, Southampton, Reading, Bromley and Huyton.

The projects include a £3m contract to build 29 flats for the elderly in Penrith for Methodist Homes, a £6m d
eal to build a 110-bed care home and 12 apartments for Ranc in Cambridge and a £3.8m contract to build a special care home in Barnsley.

Redworth managing director Howard Rogers said: "It has got 2008 off to a flying start. Our turnover target for this year was £35m so we are nearly there already. We also have a healthy order book, with some projects not completing until 2010.

"As everyone knows, these are difficult economic times but we are delighted to be bucking the trend."

Mr Rogers added: "We are especially proud to be a Yorkshire company winning contracts across the UK in different sectors."

Redworth, currently building a BUPA care home in Colton, Leeds, clinched another contract with the private health company to construct a 71-bed care home in Southampton.

Redworth is due to complete tenders worth £4.2m on a sixth form centre and an animal care home and sports hall for Norton College in North Yorkshire later in the year.
