A HULL-based small business aims to pull rubber boots into the 21st century.
WedgeWelly was created when Sarah Longthorn with Laura Booth, decided to turn Wellington boots into high fashion. With support from Business Link, it has established a rapidly growing customer base.

Ms Longthorn said: "The consultant support has b
een invaluable and as a result we have been featured on national TV and radio, and have received coverage in both trade press and fashion magazines.

"Our marketing consultant has worked with many retailers to secure valuable sales appointments on our behalf, including a forthcoming appointment with the UK's leading online retailer for women's wear and a contract with a leading high street brand."

Business Link's Sarah Criddle, who has offered help advice to WedgeWelly, said she had high hopes for the firm.

"WedgeWelly will go from strength to strength through the development of further product lines such as the children's collection of WedgeWelly boots.

"In addition, we have also supported the entrepreneurs with export issues, introducing them to the UK Trade and Investment who can guide them through the minefield of shipping licences and tax issues."
