Wakefield versus Wembley for top award

IT'S not often that an office attracts national recognition, but a Yorkshire scheme is competing against Wembley Stadium and Aintree Racecourse for an accolade that rewards building excellence.
Origin Point, at Paragon Business Village, in Wakefield, has been shortlisted in the Built in Quality Awards 2008.
Designed by The Harris Partnership, Origin Point is a contemporary 28,000 sq ft office scheme with a striking glazed frontage.
After winning the commercial projects category at the West Yorkshire Built in Quality Awards 2008, the building was selected by judges for the top three in the national final, at Grosvenor House, in London, in October.
Colin Mackie, managing director at Yorkcourt Properties, which owns Paragon Business Village, said: "We were delighted to have won the regional category for this award, but reaching the national final and being shortlisted against two of the UK's most recognised landmark buildings is a true testament to the exceptional design and build service that we provide at Paragon Business Village.
"We hope that being nominated in such a prestigious category proves that Paragon Business Village is not only an extremely successful business park, but has raised the bar in office architecture throughout
the region."
