Yorkshire have slumped to a humbling 10-wicket defeat against Hampshire and are now in the LV Championship Division One relegation zone.
The damage was done in the morning, when they slithered miserably from 45-0 to 107 all out, with Imran Tahir and James Tomlinson taking four wickets apiece.

Hampshire needed 108 to win, and it was not a foregone conclusion on a pitch that offered plenty of turn for the spinners and in conditions that assisted swing bowling.

However, the visitors' seamers could not emulate the movement and control that Tomlinson had shown, and Adil Rashid could not match Tahir's impact.

Not once did the ball beat the bat, and Hampshire openers Michael Brown and Michael Carberry steered their side to a 10-wicket win in less than 22 overs.

Here's how it unfolded:

25th over: Hampshire have won by 10 wickets. A scampered single ends the contest.

24th over: A misfield from Deon Kruis at backward point gifts Hampshire the boundary with which Michael Brown brings the scores level.

23rd over: Hampshire are hurrying towards their target with a flurry of boundaries, with Michael Carberry reaching his half century.

18th over: Successive fours from Michael Carberry off a wilting Adil Rashid take Hampshire to 70-0.

16th over: The home side are up to 60-0, and the ball is yet to beat the bat.

10th over: Matthew Hoggard drifts onto the pads of both batsmen and is worked through midwicket. 38-0.

8th over: Hampshire's openers have added 22 runs with few alarms. Adil Rashid was introduced to the attack in the fifth over.

The weather is holding.

Yorkshire innings

31st over: Yorkshire have been bundled out for just 107. Rana Naved was the last man to go, caught at deep cover off as he tried to launch David Balcombe over extra-cover.

Lunch: Another astonishing session, but it has been a wretched one for Yorkshire who have slumped from 45-0 to 98-9. Imran Tahir and James Tomlinson have taken four wickets apiece and this contest is nearing its conclusion.

It will require something spectacular for Yorkshire to avoid defeat to one of their main relegation rivals.

29th over: Matthew Hoggard is caught in the slips by Sean Ervine - at the third attempt - off the bowling of David Balcombe, and it's 98-9. Off they go for lunch.

28th over: Wickets continue to tumble. Imran Tahir claims his fourth, and Hampshire fifth, with a huge leg-break that darts out of the rough outside David Wainwright's off-stump and has him lbw shouldering arms. 97-8.

26th over: Seven down. Chris Taylor's doughty resistance comes to an end as he is lbw to Imran Tahir's slider for 23. It's 85-7, and Yorkshire are spiralling towards defeat.

24th over: Rana Naved us swinging merrily, heaving Imran Tahir through midwicket. Chris Taylor is looking solid at the other end, but not scoring freely. 82-6.

21st over: Adil Rashid has gone and Yorkshire are 66-6. Tomlinson has his fourth wicket. Rashid was driving at a ball outside off-stump, slanting across him rather than swinging in. Top-class swing-bowling from Tomlinson, and Yorkshire sink deeper into the mire.

15th over: Gerard Brophy is the next to go, brilliantly caught by Nic Pothas, diving to his right behind the stumps and clasping the ball in front of first slip. Brophy, who scored no runs, was trying to force the ball off the back foot. Tomlinson has 50 Championship wickets.

Yorkshire are 54-5. This could possibly be over by lunch. Adil Rashid, hero with the ball yesterday, need to perform similar wonders with the bat alongside Chris Taylor.

13th over: Adam Lyth goes first ball! Tomlinson has him lbw and Yorkshire are in deep, deep trouble at 52-4. Gerard Brophy comes out to face a hat-trick ball.

13th over: Jacques Rudolph is caught behind off James Tomlinson, attempting a back-foot force off James Tomlinson, and Yorkshire are 52-3. Opener Chris Taylor is still there on 13 - it was he who repelled Tahir's hat-trick ball.

10th over: This is where things really hot up: Imran Tahir comes into the attack with the score on 44-1 and strikes in successive balls in his first over.

Andrew Gale was bowled through the gate, driving for 31, and Anthony McGrath went first ball, lbw to the googly. 45-2.

4th over: Yorkshire have shot to 25-0, with the scoring-rate in marked contrast to the snail-like pace of the first two days.

There are dark clouds over head, and rain is threatening.

Day Two action
ADIL RASHID claimed career-best figures of 7-107 as an astonishing evening session at the Rose Bowl ended with the scores level on first innings.

Hampshire collapsed from 157-2 to 198-9 before the last-wicket pair put on 38 to match Yorkshire's score of 236.

Here is how the action unfolded:

80th over: Adil Rashid has seven, and Hampshire are bowled out with the scores level. Rashid has James Tomlinson caught at leg-slip, and finishes with figures of 7-107.

72nd over: He's on fire! A sixth wicket for Adil Rashid, who is bowling as well as I've ever seen him. A perfectly-flighted leg-break turns sharply away from Imran Tahir, finds his edge and loops to slip. 198-9. Rashid has 6-88.

70th over: Adil Rashid has a five-for. A more flighted delivery bamboozles Chris Tremlett and has him stumped as he props forward. Hampshire are 190-8.

69th over: David Wainwright has Dimitri Mascarenhas lbw, trying to sweep. It's 190-7, and Hampshire are still 46 runs behind.

62nd over: Adil Rashid has his fourth wicket. Nic Pothas tries to sweep him, gets a top-edge and is picked up at short-leg. 181-6.

59th over: Anthony McGrath brings David Wainwright into the attack and the left-arm spinner strikes with his second ball, as Sean Ervine dances impetuously down the pitch, misses and is stumped. Three wickets have fallen in quick succession. 165-5.

56th over: He's done it again! Rashid's first ball to Chris Benham darts straight on to the batsman, who was shouldering arms playing for the leg-break, and traps him lbw. 157-4. Nic Pothas survives the hat-trick ball.

56th over: Adil Rashid has his former Yorkshire colleague Michael Lumb caught at short-leg off bat and pad. Lumb had never looked fully at ease against the leg-spinner, although he did play some delightful drives in his innings of 21. 157-3.

53rd over: Sean Ervine and Michael Lumb have added 24 runs in just four overs since tea. Ervine has moved on to 35. 149-2.

Tea (48 overs): Hampshire finish the afternoon session on 125-2, 111 runs behind Yorkshire's 236.

Adil Rashid made the initial breakthrough, having Michael Brown lbw. Rana Naved had Michael Carberry caught behind. In between, Jacques Rudolph dropped Sean Ervine off the bowling of Matthew Hoggard.

Rashid and Rana have posed a threat to Ervine and Michael Lumb, but Hampshire survived and have the upper hand.

39th over: Rana Naved slants a ball across Michael Carberry and finds his outside edge. Gerard Brophy holds a regulation catch and Hampshire are 108-2. Carberry made 46.

38th over: David Wainwright is introduced to the attack, and Sean Ervine dances down the track to hoist the left-arm spinner's second ball over wide long-on for six. That brings up the 100.

33rd over: Dropped! Jacques Rudolph puts down a low chance off Sean Ervine at first slip. Matthew Hoggard is the irate bowler. 83-1.

30th over: At last, a breakthrough. Adil Rashid has Michael Brown lbw, from around the wicket, and Hampshire are 82-1.

25th over: Hampshire are pressing on, with their openers taking them to 70-0. Both batsmen have shown a willingness to use their feet to Adil Rashid, who is turning the ball sharply.

Lunch, 14 overs: Hampshire's openers have reached 42-0 in response to Yorkshire's 236 all out.

The second morning belonged to the home side. Overnight batsmen David Wainwright and Jacques Rudolph departed early on for 25 and 89, respectively, before last-wicket pair Deon Kruis and Matthew Hoggard added 16 runs in nine overs.

James Tomlinson finished with 5-53.

With the sun out and the cloud cover receding, Hampshire openers Michael Carberry and Michael Brown encountered few difficulties.

10th over: Hampshire's openers Michael Carberry and Michael Brown have made their way to 27-0 with few alarms.

Yorkshire all out for 236

94th over: The 10th-wicket resistance is over after 16 runs: Matthew Hoggard attempts a pull off James Tomlinson and spoons a catch to mid-wicket. Yorkshire are all out for 236, having won the toss and opted to bat. Tomlinson finished with five wickets.

85th over: Jacques Rudolph#s long innings is over. He is caught behind off a lifting delivery from Chris Tremlett for 89. The new ball has been key. 221-9.

84th over: James Tomlinson has David Wainwright caught behind off an inside edge for a useful 25. Yorkshire are 220-8.

83rd over: Yorkshire have moved on to 214-7.

Play has begun on time and Hampshire have taken the new ball.
