YORKSHIRE have signed 22-year-old all-rounder Lee Hodgson on a two-year contract.
Middlesbrough-born Hodgson played much of his early cricket for Saltburn Cricket Club in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League and progressed from there to become one of the MCC's Young Cricketers from 2006.

He hit 63 runs in an impressive LV County Championship debut for Surrey in 2008 after earning promotion from the Surrey 2nd XI with some useful performances, which included 4-44 and 85 with the bat against Yorkshire Seconds at York in August.

Hodgson said: "I am very pleased to have signed for Yorkshire. It is my home county and it was my dream as a young lad to play for this club.

"I popped in to Headingley Carnegie yesterday to undergo a medical and want to move down as soon as I can as I cannot wait to get started."

Yorkshire's director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon said: "Lee is someone who impressed us when he played for Surrey's Second Team at York last year.

"He is an all-rounder who bowls at a decent pace and has the ability to score runs.

"He became available at the end of the season and we regard him as a very good prospect and an investment for the future."
