HEAVY rainfall has led to the cancellation of one of Yorkshire's agricultural shows.
Organisers of Gargrave Show, due to take place this Saturday, have been forced to pull the plug at the 11th hour after torrential rain waterlogged its North Yorkshire showground.

Show chairman Ian Smith said conditions at the Show Field in front of Eshton Hall are so bad, organisers and exhibitors were not able to access the site to set up.

It comes as a double blow to organisers after last year's show had to be scaled back following the restrictions put in place by the foot and mouth disease outbreak in Sussex.

Show secretary Sarah Davidson said the committee had taken the decision at an emergency meeting last night but vowed to come back better than ever next year.

"It has been a very difficult decision," she said.
