Why would a ghostly Woman-in-White want to wander about the nocturnal countryside? She will be one of a band of world-famous street theatre and performance artists from around the world coming to Yorkshire this month. It's part of the H²O festival and takes place at Fewston Reservoir, near Harrogate next weekend, the evenings of October 17 and 18.
It's organised by Harrogate International Festival and Yorkshire Water to help showcase the accessibility and beauty of Yorkshire's countryside and raise money for WaterAid. Visitors will be taken on a 40-minute journey round the reservoir by the "Wo
man in White" who has something to do with the mythical spirits who lurk in the Washburn Valley.
It promises to be a pretty spectacular show. Fewston's forest will be dramatically lit with visual creations, while the reservoir will come to life through enchanted characters and dramatic visual effects. William Culver-Dodds, chief executive of the Harrogate International, says it will be "unlike anything that has been staged in the region before".
Tickets cost £10 per car, with proceeds going to WaterAid and there will be three shows per night – 6.30pm, 8pm and 9.30pm. To reserve tickets, call 01423 562 303 or for more information visit www.h2ofestival.com. Parking will be available at Swinsty Moor car park, next to Fewston Reservoir. Directions to the site can be found at www.h2ofestival.com. Guests are advised to wear warm clothing and
sturdy footwear.
