The prestigious Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business awards are a celebration of the best companies in this enterprising region.

This year, we are aiming for more entries than ever before.

In a challenging economic climate, we will highlight the tremendous work at businesses in North, South, East and West Yorkshire.

The awards are open to all Yorkshire businesses, big or small, and judges will be looking for the very best examples of innovation and enterprise.

Peter Charlton, the Editor of the Yorkshire Post, said: “In 2009, it is more important than ever before that we highlight and celebrate the many examples of excellence in our business community.

“It has arguably been the most challenging year on record for many businesses, with problems caused by lack of credit and suppliers or customers going bust.

“But in the face of these difficult conditions, Yorkshire businesses are coming up with some truly innovative and enterprising actions.”

“It is tough out there, but it is inspiring to see the resilience and spirit of our companies and we are proud to be able to showcase qualities like these in the Excellence in Business Awards.”

“It will be the fourth consecutive year that we have run these popular awards and they are now unquestionably the highlight of Yorkshire's business calendar.”

NEW! We have added an additional category this year: The SME Manufacturer of the Year award, sponsored by MAS, is open to Yorkshire companies with a turnover of up to £10m.
