A plot for all seasons

Leeds city banker Peter Coady was converted to allotmenting four years ago after deciding the patch in his garden earmarked to become a sunken patio deserved an eco-solution. After two successful seasons, his horticultural ambitions outgrew his plot and he moved on to bigger and better things. That's the history, the future is about strange shaped vegetables. Follow the adventure here.
Richard Atkinson

Jammie dodger

Financial controller Richard Atkinson is on a quest to change his lifestyle. Fed up with commuting and the costs of running his car the 32-year-old took the plunge, swapped his four wheels for a bike and a season ticket for the train. His ambitions nearly ended with his life in a rush-hour collision that left his beloved bike like a paperclip, but still he refuses to give up.

Walking in Yorkshire

My name is Victoria Crampton and I will be fifty this year, which seems like a good time to start writing a blog. I was born in Scarborough and have lived in West Yorkshire since 1981. I’ve taught English in several Kirklees secondary schools and I live near Holmfirth with my husband and daughter.

I wanted to improve my fitness and started walking with Lesley, who is also my neighbour and fellow teacher. We’re about the same height and have the same stride, so we make ideal walking buddies. We can also keep talking as long as we keep walking, which is an important requirement for a walking companion as far as I’m concerned.

I thought that reading the entries might encourage other brave explorers to pick up a map and set off. So I hope I inspire and entertain Yorkshire Post On-Line readers and maybe meet a few of them on the public footpaths around Holmfirth!

Pat Wood
Video blog - A suitable case for treatment

Last year, Pat Wood’s sight began to deteriorate. But she was denied NHS treatment for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) - leaving her with the prospect of going blind in her right eye. Pat, a 76-year-old retired magistrate from Sutton-on-the-Forest, near Easingwold, has been forced to dip into savings to pay for £14,000 of private treatment and now cannot afford any more. She is keeping a video blog for the Yorkshire Post on her ongoing fight for treatment.
