The nominees for the Yorkshire Post Environment Awards 2010, which recognises the determination of groups and individuals to protect the environment and reduce their carbon footprint, have been announced.
Full coverage »

Businesses and organisations have put themselves forward for one of the 10 categories with the winners announced at the awards ceremony in March.

This is the second year of the awards and the judges on making their shortlist selections commented on the incredibly high standard of the entries from across the region.

With the environment taking centre stage over the last year with the pivotal Copenhagen summit, it appears more relevant than ever to recognise the companies across Yorkshire who are tackling the issues head on.

The winners of the 10 award categories will be announced at a prestigious ceremony in Leeds on Thursday, March 4.

Yorkshire Post editor Peter Charlton said: "With 89 entries, this year's awards received even more entries than our inaugural programme last year.

"In addition, the quality of entries this year was even better, which tells us that there is some impressive and innovative environmental work being done by our schools, businesses and individuals.

"Judging this diverse array of quality entries was an extremely challenging but very enjoyable process and we look forward to sharing the findings at the ceremony in March."

“CO2Sense Yorkshire works with hundreds of companies in the region, giving them real, practical help to reduce their carbon emissions. So we know just how much innovation there is in the region, and we see what a huge difference this is making.

“So we’re proud to support the Yorkshire Post’s Environment Awards, which is a wonderful celebration of all the great work that is being done in Yorkshire to make a difference - benefiting not just Yorkshire, but the world.”
