O'Driscoll not ready for 'the funny farm' just yet

UNDER-FIRE Doncaster Rovers chief Sean O'Driscoll admits he is under pressure but says anyone who goes into football management fearing for his job might as well "commit himself to the funny farm".
O'Driscoll is coming under increasing scrutiny as his side languish at the bottom of the table, seven points adrift of safety.
But as Rovers look to improve a woeful record of just one win and two goals in eight home games, against play-off chasing Ipswich today, O'Driscoll vowed to keep battling on.
"The industry is governed by results, the average tenure of a football manager is something like 18 months, but if anyone goes into football management fearing for his job then he might as well commit himself to the funny farm," said O'Driscoll.
"If you go into any job worrying about 'what happens if I do this?' and 'what happens if I do that?' then you're just wasting your time. I am under pressure because there is pressure in trying to do the right things and trying to make the right calls.
"All you can do is try to maintain your self-belief, and that's what I'm trying to do."
O'Driscoll said: "A lot of people have been really supportive, which is obviously a good thing.
"But I suppose it wears a bit thin when people keep saying that you've played really well and yet lost the game, so we know we need to start picking up results."
