The father of a teenager killed days before he sat his GCSEs spoke of his pride and pain as he collected his son's results.

Jimmy Mizen, who died after being attacked at a bakery in Lee, south London, received passes in eight exams.

He gained C grades in English, English literature, maths, applied science and religious education.

He also received a B grade for his certificate of personal effectiveness and a C grade for adult literacy and numeracy.

Although he died before sitting his exams, he received the passes based on coursework and teachers' assessments.

His father Barry collected the results at St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive School in Eltham, south London.

Mr Mizen said he was "extremely pleased" at his son's achievement. "We're very proud of the amount of work he put into this and we're very proud of what he's achieved," he said.

"It's very painful. He should have been here himself with his friends. I think it's a very long process.

"Jimmy will always be a part of our lives. He would have been feeling very pleased."

Head teacher Markus Ryan paid tribute to "a real ambassador for the school. I can only say how upset I feel now that Jimmy isn't here with us."
