ONE of the region's top students had some simple advice on how to take the stress out of GCSE exams after achieving nine A-stars and one A yesterday.
Mikaela Ming, 16, a pupil at Hymers College in Hull, said she had managed to keep revision down to a minimum – just by paying attention in class.
She said: "I listened during the year and I think that if you pay attention you don't need to revise so much when it comes to exams. It helps you take it in and you understand it more when you listen."
Mikaela was one of four students at the independent school to achieve the grades.
Five others also had cause to celebrate with an equally remarkable haul of eight A-stars and two As.
One of their number, David Hoyes, admits he now has a tough act to follow after his brother Peter picked up five A grades at A-level last week.
He said: "I think it is as good as I could have hoped for because I wasn't sure how I'd do in English, so I'm really pleased.
"There might be a bit of pressure on me to follow Peter but I've got two years to go so."
