Wehterby Races

There was a spectacular turn out of outfits for the Yorkshire Post's Ladies Evening at Wetherby Races.
More people than ever entered for the Jem Boutique Best Dressed Lady competition which is proving to be a major attraction. The competition was judged by Mandy Roberts and Annabel Riley from the internet fashion company Jem Boutique, along with Jill Armstrong from the Yorkshire Post. First prize went to Pam Edwards from Boroughbridge who won a £600 voucher from Jem Boutique plus champagne and flowers. She will represent Wetherby at the final of the Best Dressed Lady in Yorkshire competition to be held at Doncaster's St Leger meeting in September.

Runners up were Deborah Grogan from Wisewood, Sheffield and Susan Tallents from Scawthorpe, Doncaster. They both received £200 in vouchers and champagne and flowers. The winner of the Best Hat was Gail Eden, who also won last year. She was at the races with her neighbour, Susan Tallents, and both went home with prizes. The hat contest was sponsored by couture millinery label, Hats by Billy, run by Margaret Bennett, a student in Leeds. Gail won a fascinator designed by Margaret, champagne and flowers.
