    He pretends to choke, prompting fellow diners to rush to his aid. Then they offer financial help when they learn his elderly mother Ida (Anjelica Huston in the film's best performance) is in hospital.

    Choke needs someone like Rockwell to anchor an often breakaway storyline. Sadly, the plotlines outwit him, and even the support of Huston and Kelly Macdonald (as doctor-cum-love interest) can't prevent this from being a monumental misfire.
