ROTHERHAM United chief executive Paul Douglas admits that the next 48 hours could be crucial to the League Two club's future.
The Millers have yet to exit administration, but have asked creditors to approve a revised Company Voluntary Arrangement.

If the new offer is rejected and the club opt to exit administration without a CVA, the Football League are likely to impose
a
15-point penalty.

That would create a serious risk of the Millers suffering relegation next season and slipping out of the League.

Douglas said: "The creditors' decision is going to affect a number of things including the potential points deduction.

"We do not want to start the season with a points deduction and hopefully that will be avoided.

"We need to reach a deal that allows us to go forward as a viable business," he stressed. "I don't think it will be any later than early this week when there's an announcement on whether the CVA has been possible.

"The reason the club went into administration in March was that it couldn't afford the level of debt.

"We are absolutely delighted with our progress considering the dark position where we have come from."

Although the Millers are required to pay a bond, of possibly £750,000, to the League in order to play games next season at their temporary home outside Rotherham – the Don Valley Stadium – supporters are firmly behind prospective new owner Tony Stewart who is currently financing the running of the club from his own pocket.

"Despite the worries that have existed about a points deduction and moving out of the town, our season ticket sales have been incredible," said Douglas. "We did everything in our powers to avoid moving away from Millmoor but, ultimately, we had no option because we were unable to secure a lease that would be workable for the club.

"However, we have sold around 2,100 tickets already which is more than the 2,000 we sold throughout the whole of last season.

"People are happy to be moving because they realise the facilities at Don Valley are top notch and will provide amenities that couldn't be provided at Millmoor.

"In Tony Stewart, they see a local businessman who has been funding the trading of the club for several weeks. He has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds because, right now, there is no income coming into the club.

"Even the season ticket money has been placed into a protected account because if the League share issue doesn't work out, we will have to return it all."

The Millers are hoping to move to a new 15,000 community stadium at Parkgate which is currently being discussed with council officials and representatives from the Rotherham Titans rugby club.

If the Millers are not back in Rotherham by summer 2012, the League have warned that they will lose their bond.
