KEVIN BLACKWELL could throw Carl Ikeme straight into the Blades line-up after being impressed with the goalkeeper's efforts on loan for Charlton.
The Blades manager signed the 23-year-old after discovering Ian Bennett was likely to miss at least another three weeks with a broken thumb.

Ikeme had been on loan at Charlton from Wolves and Blackwell has been impressed with his displays for the League One high-flyers. He said: "Carl has had five or six games on loan at Charlton. I saw the last three of those and he is in good nick.

"He may be raw in terms of age for a goalkeeper but, at 6ft 3in, he is a big lad who has a big presence in the penalty area. He also has bags of enthusiasm and desire and he is in contention to start at Ashton Gate, that's for sure.

"I want a No 1 because I have not got one at the moment, so it is up to Carl and Mark Bunn to fight it out for the jersey. I rate them both as goalkeepers."
