Both these clubs began the season on minus 17 points so have had their own little rivalry right from the beginning.
Rotherham have made the better start to the extent that they went into this game nine points better off and having cleared the minu
s deficit a week ago.
Bournemouth were clearly determined and keyed up for this game and will know their efforts should have been rewarded with a win.
Just three days after their victory over Leeds, Rotherham spent the first half repelling the eager home side.
Andy Warrington made good saves from Darren Anderton and Joel Ward and Danny Hollands struck a post but Rotherham refused to wilt.
A change of formation at half-time certainly helped and only a fine save denied defender Mark Joseph, on as a substitute for Nick Fenton who had picked up a knock in the first half.
Former England man Anderton missed a good chance in the second half and looked set to win it but hit a post late on.
"We knew what to expect from Bournemouth and they were really up for this game," said Rotherham manager Mark Robins. "We made adjustments and started to build in the second half. But in all the circumstances it is an excellent point."
