HULL CITY transfer target Marlon King will undergo a medical at the KC Stadium in the next 48 hours after the Premier League newcomers last night agreed personal terms with the striker.
Phil Brown wants the 28-year-old Jamaican international to spearhead the Tigers' attack in the top flight and had a club record bid of £3m accepted by Wigan Athletic last week.

King only joined the Latics in January, but Steve Bruce seems prepared to cut his losses after the player netted just one goal in 15 appearances following a £4m move from Watford.

Hull chairman Paul Duffen last night told the Yorkshire Post: "Marlon came in to see Phil earlier this week and his personal terms have been agreed. Now, we are just comparing diaries to do the medical, which will probably take place in the next 24 hours.

"We do not anticipate any problems and, hopefully, Marlon will be a Hull City player very soon. He is itching for a chance to show what he can do in the Premier League.

"He has consistently pulled up the trees in the Championship, but has been unfortunate with injuries once in the Premier League. He is hoping this will prove to be his day in the sun."

Providing there are no problems with the medical, King will become the club's second record signing inside a month after a £2m bid proved enough to prise Peter Halmosi away from
Plymouth Argyle.

Brown is hoping for a repeat of the goalscoring prowess that saw the striker net 21 goals in 41 games as the Hornets powered to promotion via the Championship play-offs in 2005-06.

King was expected to make a big impression in the Premier League the following season only to suffer a broken leg, an injury that restricted him to just 13 appearances and four goals as Watford slid to relegation.

His imminent arrival in East Yorkshire may not be the only boost to Hull's attacking options this summer with the club understood to still be hopeful of bringing Fraizer Campbell back to the KC Stadium despite his return to Manchester United.

The 20-year-old is being assessed by Sir Alex Ferguson during pre-season and helped create the only goal of the
European champions' 1-0
victory against Orlando Pirates in South Africa on Tuesday.

Despite that, Hull still harbour hopes of signing Campbell who played a major part in the club's promotion to the top flight last season after joining on loan in October.

Regardless of whether United make the Huddersfield-born striker available for transfer or not, Brown seems certain to end the summer as one of the busier managers in the top flight.

He has already signed Craig Fagan, Geovanni, Bernard Mendy, George Boateng and Tony Warner since Hull's play-off triumph at the end of May.

The Hull manager also has several other bids on the table with Bolton Wanderers defender Abdoulaye Meite remaining a target despite the two clubs being some way apart in their valuations.

Chairman Duffen added: "The squad has been shaping up well with our policy of being patient earlier in the summer having been rewarded with the calibre of signings we have now made.

"We are keeping tabs on several other targets. I don't think it is a secret we are looking for a left-sided defender and have a couple of irons in the fire.

"There are probably two critical signings left, though that does not mean there will be no other arrivals as well."

Huddersfield Town have added Michael Flynn to their squad after the midfielder yesterday passed a medical at the Galpharm Stadium.

The 27-year-old, who was released by Blackpool earlier this summer, has agreed a two-year-deal and will be reunited with Stan Ternent after the pair worked together at Gillingham.

The Town manager said: "He's a player that I have tracked and he has been on my hitlist. He is an attacking midfielder with Championship experience and a proven record at getting goals.

"I signed him when I was at Gillingham and I know he will make the squad stronger."
