Rotherham United's miserable run in the FA Cup continued with this defeat.
It is the seventh time on the trot that they have gone out at the first attempt and they have not won an FA Cup tie since 2002.
Apart from the first 10 minutes they didn
't look like ending that wretched run and were beaten by a side who had lost seven successive away games in the league this season.
Aldershot had only given themselves a second chance in the original game thanks to a stoppage-time penalty, but they made no mistake this time, taking advantage of Rotherham's poorest display of the season. They could not have imagined it would be so easy.
There was a blow for the home side before kick-off when experienced goalkeeper Andy Warrington failed a fitness test on the shoulder injury he suffered at Gillingham last Saturday.
It gave a first opportunity to 20-year-old reserve goalkeeper Steven Cann, who had no chance at all with any of the three goals.
Rotherham actually started off the better of the two sides, with Richie Barker firing over the top from 18 yards. before Rueben Reid forced Nikki Bull into a sharp save.
Then came Rotherham's best chance when Andy Nicholas found Barker, but he put his header over the top.
Aldershot then took a surprise lead in what was effectively their first threatening attack of the night.
A misplaced pass by Pablo Mills went straight to Kirk Hudson, who wasted no time in running at the Rotherham defence before lashing a fierce drive from 18 yards into the far corner.
Rotherham made little impression and it was the visitors – proving quicker on the break – who threatened to add to their lead and they did so 10 minutes into the second half when Kirk Hudson set up Marvin Morgan, who gave Cann no chance.
Rotherham tried to get back into the tie but made little headway and the result was sealed with nine minutes to go when Ben Harding and Scott Davies opened up the Rotherham defence for Hudson to grab his second of the night.
