DONCASTER Rovers have landed Leicester City midfielder James Chambers.
Chambers was entitled to quit the Walkers Stadium as part of a get-out clause in his contract triggered by the club's relegation to League One.

Rovers agreed to pay an undisclosed fee for the former West Bromwich Albion player, who is viewed as a
replacement for the departed Paul Green.

Chambers, 27, signed a three-year deal with the Championship newcomers and is likely to make his debut in Saturday's opener at Derby County.

"He is a proven Championship player and the sort of utility player that we had in Paul Green," said Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll.

"He can play anywhere along the back four and has had lots of experience at this level."

O'Driscoll is still interested in signing Ivory Coast international defender Issoumaila Dao from French club Toulose but will not be pursuing his interest in former Bristol City defender Richard Keogh.

Darlington manager Dave Penney is running the rule over Paul Evans and Ben Muirhead following their release this summer by Bradford City.

Cheltenham have taken former Halifax Town and Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield, 34, on trial.
